If you made it through Friday without breaking a mirror, coming across a black cat, or walking under a ladder, congratulations.
But believe it or not, some people used Friday the 13th to search for ghosts at one of the Corpus Christi's most haunted locales - Heritage Park.
"People always have curiosity when it comes to the paranormal," says Corpus Christi's Public Arts Manager Joe Pena. "Whether they believe it or not , there's always some sort of questioning about it."
Which may explain why so many ghost hunters end up at the park's Sidbury House. To hear the story of 8 year old Jim Dunn, who died of yellow fever more than 100-years ago.
The story goes that he really had such a connection to the family that he stuck around. So now, there are noises in the house, including a child's laughter, a ball bouncing, and a number of footsteps.
If you ask some people, Jim Dunn is still there. He's been spotted peering out a window - three times.
Then there's the story of the Ward McCampbell House, and the woman who watched the devastating 1919 hurricane from the balcony. Then died there. She was seen by a schoolgirl touring the house. After the girl spotted her ghost in a mirror, the girl ran down the stairs to the teacher... and when she was asked what she had seen, she said she saw an exact description of the woman who used to live there.
The Merriman Bobys house, a former civil war hospital, has it's secrets, too. Vision of uniformed soldiers and nurses have been seen inside. And there's one spot in the home that is always unusually chilly, even during the warm Corpus Christi summers.
The reason?
It's the corner where severed limbs would be thrown during amputations and other surgeries during the war.
